What We Do

For people with disabilities, the disability or serious impairment is not incidental; instead, it shapes how they communicate, receive care, access services, and experience harm. Drawing on more than thirty years of experience litigating disability rights matters, Matthew Dietz’s work addresses a persistent gap: there is no clear roadmap for individuals seeking to assert their rights, and no uniform guide for lawyers to understand how disability intersects with legal claims, compliance obligations, and real-world decision-making.

Matthew Dietz’s work is grounded in addressing that gap. His mission is two-fold. First, he equips people with disabilities and their families with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to effectively understand and assert their rights in real-world settings. This includes advising on accommodations, effective communication, accessibility compliance, and disability-informed practices, as well as assisting individuals and families in understanding and securing the services and supports they are entitled to under the law.

Second, Matthew Dietz ensures that when people with disabilities are injured or killed, their disability is fully and accurately incorporated into every phase of a case. Too often, disability is minimized or misunderstood, resulting in missed liability theories, incomplete causation analysis, and undervalued damages. His role is to work alongside trial counsel to identify where failures to accommodate, communication barriers, or deviations from disability-informed standards of care contribute to harm, and to integrate those issues into case strategy.
