Dislaw Consulting is not a traditional law firm, nor is it a conventional consulting practice. It is a specialized disability law practice built to operate at the intersection of legal doctrine, real-world systems, and strategic problem-solving. Its structure, approach, and purpose reflect a fundamental recognition: disability rights issues are rarely resolved by generalist approaches, and they are almost never resolved effectively without a precise understanding of how law interacts with institutional systems.
At the center of Dislaw Consulting is Matthew W. Dietz, a nationally recognized disability rights attorney, legal educator, and strategist with thirty years of experience litigating, advising, and shaping policy in the field of civil rights and disability law. Matthew Dietz is a civil rights attorney, disability law expert, and former Professor of Law whose career has been defined by advancing access, accountability, and systemic change for individuals with disabilities. His work spans litigation, policy development, teaching, and national training, with a consistent focus on how legal frameworks operate in practice.
As a full-time professor and the former Director of the Disability Inclusion and Advocacy Law (DIAL) Clinic at Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, Matthew Dietz trained law students to represent clients in complex disability rights matters. His work included hundreds of cases involving the ADA, the Fair Housing Act, Section 504, and related statutes, addressing issues in employment, housing, healthcare, education, and public services.
Beyond the scope of individual litigation, his work has contributed to systemic reforms and institutional practices. He has been involved in developing procedures related to accessibility in courts and public systems, including frameworks for requesting accommodations and ensuring compliance. His experience reflects a deep understanding not only of legal doctrine, but of how institutions often neglect legal requirements.
